Bird Watching
Being in an extensive highland island surrounded by arid lands, Ethiopia is blessed with more than 850 bird species - of which 28 are found no where else in the world but only in Ethiopia.
It is difficult to single out specific sites especially good for bird-watching. Nevertheless, several of the national parks provide a more than good chance of meeting them.
Endemic bird species include the Abyssinian ground hornbill, the Abyssinian catbird, known for its beautiful calls when the male and female perform duet, and the black winged lovebird, which whirrs through the sky like a miniature helicopter.
Large birds such the Lammergeyer are available across the plains soaring from above the sky searching for bones to smash.
Our visitors are guaranteed to have exciting time and meet most of the birds of the world, including fascinating ones in one place - in Ethiopia.
