Touring Addis Ababa
Addis Ababa is a cosmopolitan as any of the world's metropolises. The story of the city begun in 1878 when Emperor Menelik II moved south from his old capital Ankober. Empress Tayitu later gave the settlement its current name, Addis Ababa - literally meaning New Flower in Amharic.
Along the Africa Avenue, is the Addis Ababa museum, which displays the political, cultural and architectural history of the capital - such photographs of the first settlements, the first car in Addis Ababa, the first school, the first telephone and first currency in the country, are displayed in here.
"Injera" - a large, soft, pancake-like crepe - is the national dish. It serves as the base of the meal. The tray on which the Injera is served is placed is the "mesob" - a round table woven like a basket.
